Junk removal prices in Ottawa.
Junk removal in Ottawa is priced by volume, by how much room the load takes up in the truck, not by the hour and not by the item. The trade sells fractions of a truck: a quarter load, a half load, a full load. Two Ottawa companies publish their fractions and their figures, and both are below. Ours are not published yet, so we quote on site, before anything is lifted, on (613) 852-4059.

Send a photo of the pile and we will come back with a figure, confirmed on site and agreed before anything goes on the truck.
(613) 852-4059You are buying space on a truck.
The truck is the unit
A quote is a fraction of a fixed box. Junk Ninja publishes its trucks as 12 feet by 8 feet by 6 feet. A quarter load is that box a quarter full: a sofa, a chair and a few boxes. A half load is a small room emptied. A full load is a garage.
Why not by the hour or the item
An hourly rate charges you for a slow crew and for traffic. Item pricing breaks on the second trip, because two chairs and a dresser fill the same space as one sofa. Volume tracks what actually costs money: truck space and weight at the scale.
Five things change the number.
Volume, first and last
Everything else adjusts this. Flat-packing and breaking down boxes really does move a load down a fraction, and it is the one thing you can do that lowers the price.
Access: stairs, elevators and the carry
A sofa beside an open driveway and the same sofa on a third-floor walk-up are not the same job. Stairs, tight landings, a booked elevator and a long carry all add crew time to an identical volume. Say which applies when you call.
Weight: concrete, soil, shingles, tile, brick
Dense material bills by the tonne at the scale, not by the space it fills. Junk Ninja publishes bed load pricing for it: capped at 1 to 1.5 feet off a 12 by 8 foot bed, and small amounts mixed into a household load charged at 20 to 30 per cent of the total volume. For 2026 the City charges $172.70 per tonne for residential garbage at Trail Waste Facility, flat $43.20 minimum under 250 kg.
Items with a disposal surcharge
Some material costs money to shift no matter who takes it. JunkPal publishes its surcharges: $10 per one-gallon paint can, $25 per five-gallon pail, $15 to $20 per BBQ propane tank, $10 per car battery, $5 per fluorescent tube, $15 per tire without rims and $25 with rims, and $30 to $50 for a fridge or air conditioner holding refrigerant, which it notes must be drained by a certified technician. Mattresses and electronics are commonly surcharged too.
Sorting, which cuts both ways
The City takes source-separated scrap metal and electronic waste free, plus up to ten passenger or light truck tires per person per day. Mix them into the garbage and it reverses: for 2026, garbage mixed with recyclables is $345.40 per tonne against $172.70. Unsorted costs almost exactly double.

| Load size | Junk Ninja | JunkPal |
|---|---|---|
| Single item | $135 | minimum around $150 |
| One sixth of the truck | $279 | not published |
| Quarter load | $329 | $150 to $250 |
| Half load | $529 | $300 to $450 |
| Three quarter load | $669 | $500 to $650 |
| Full truck | $719 | $700 to $900 |
Junk Ninja states its figures exclude taxes; JunkPal calls its figures estimated ranges. The useful part is where they disagree: $79 to $179 apart at a quarter load, within $181 by a full truck. Small loads are where Ottawa pricing varies most. Outside the truck-fraction model, JunkPal's Orleans page says most Orleans jobs run $150 to $600, and Taskrabbit quotes Kanata junk pickup from $40 per hour plus dump fees.
We quote yours before we load.
A rate card cannot see your staircase. You get the figure while the load is still in the room.
Tell us what has to go
Call or text (613) 852-4059 and describe the load, or send photos. Mention stairs, elevators, a long carry or a parking problem, and anything heavy or holding refrigerant.
You get the number before we load
The quote is confirmed on site, once the crew can see the pile and the way out, and you approve it before anything is lifted. Not a total counted up once the truck is full.
The price covers the work
Carrying, loading, taking something apart where it has to come apart, hauling, disposal and sweeping up. A surcharge item is named at the quote, not on the invoice.
When the dump is the better call.
Sometimes the right answer is to do it yourself, and a company that will not say so is selling you something. Trail Waste Facility Landfill sits at 4475 Trail Road, off Moodie Drive. The City publishes its hours as Monday to Friday, 7 am to 6 pm, closed Sundays, and open on selected Saturdays only. The City's Trail Waste Facility page lists which ones.
Two details catch people out. Payment at the scale house is contactless only, and the City states it is not accepting cash or personal cheques. And CSA-certified green patch footwear and hi-visibility clothing are required at the main tipping areas; without them you are restricted to Small Load Area #1.
So DIY wins with one load, a vehicle that carries it, a free weekday, boots and a vest. It stops winning fast: four trips is a day off work and four minimum fees, and asbestos, liquid waste and hazardous waste are not accepted there at all. Neither route is the curb, where the City collects three garbage items every two weeks and a sofa counts as one of the three.

It is priced by volume, as a fraction of a truck. On 2026-08-09 Junk Ninja listed a single item at $135 and a full truck at $719 excluding taxes; JunkPal listed a quarter load at $150 to $250 and a full load at $700 to $900. Those are their prices, not ours. Ours is quoted on site before loading, on (613) 852-4059.
Half the space inside the truck body, not half the weight and not half the items. Junk Ninja publishes its truck as 12 feet by 8 feet by 6 feet, so half of that is roughly a small bedroom emptied.
No, and almost nobody in this trade does for hauling, because an hourly rate makes you pay for a slow crew and for traffic. The exception is labour hire: Taskrabbit quotes Kanata junk pickup from $40 per hour, plus whatever the dump charges.
For one load on a free weekday, often yes. Trail Waste Facility at 4475 Trail Road runs Monday to Friday 7 am to 6 pm and closes Sundays, payment is contactless, and CSA green patch boots and hi-visibility clothing are required at the main tipping areas. It stops being cheaper once you need a rented vehicle or more than one trip.
